We are in section 30 (Harts Bluff Rd) and got the same 3-D Survey letter yesterday.
We leased to Chesapeake about 2 months ago. Will this even apply to us since we are already leased?

The letter i got was from Cajun Exploration, acting on behalf of Chesapeake Operating, inc. Same deal, $25/acre. Since I just leased to Chesapeake, I believe it is in my best interests to cooperate. I know CHK is drilling in S19,T11,R14 just west of me. i believe they are spending the money to map the reservoir in order to make better guesses in their planning for what looks like an area they intend to concentrate development efforts on. The letter sounds like good news to me.

Got a letter also from Cajun today also. Who do they work for? What protections should be put in a survey agreement? Thanks for the information.

Here is a note on our lease status which may help some other landowner not go through what we have been through the last four months to see not see a lease bonus $ yet.
We are not leased but had signed an Agreement to Lease via Continental Land Resources for CHK but they let it expire claiming they were doing title work and now want to lease it for 2K, 3/16th royalty, and 5 year lease. We are Sec20, T11N, R14W. The gas/oil is still in the ground. We have waited over 100 years and not sold our land we will wait another 100 to get a fair lease bonus and royalty share.

Cajun Exploration is a subcontractor for Chesapeake. I had by lawyer look at the boilerplate language in the letter. They do not promise to pay damages if they leave any. My lease with CHK will not give any protection.
They use small trucks in these operations. If they go in when it's wet, they could leave big ruts behind. I asked him to draft me a paragraph that will offer some protection. We'll have to see if they accept it.

We did not sign the letter that we received last month giving Cajun Exp permission to do a 3-D geophysical survey on our land. So they showed up today at our house asking again for permission to do the test.
The $25.00 per acre is not worth the worry about this. We leased to Chesapeake back in September. They are going to drill in our section probably within the next month or 2. Would it be such a big deal if we do not give them permission? Our lease has a no drill & no surface clause in it. I sure would not want to sign something & mess that up.

Hunter----I have also been visited and called 2 times about this 3-D seismic. I'm not gonna do anything at this time, however I might later. No hurry. I'm not leased yet. He says they have to have 80% of a section before they will start. we are in 18-11-15 , river bottom, and if they done it wet would ruin my property. I made the mistake 30 yrs ago and let Dow Chemical do seismic on mine. They did a lot of damage with heavy equipment. Like you said, 25.00 per acre is not worth it.

Hey hey told me 70% of the section? anyway there are survey crews all over sec- 20 now not sure if they are connected with this or just setting up a pad .

FYI for 'yall who may not know: Public hearing set for 01/13/09 to establish 5 new drilling units for Chesapeake (Sec#'s 13,14,15,25, and 27 T11NR15W).

Lanadan,
Hope things are going well with ya; don't see sec 17, in there where I am located. Still trying to put something together soon, but, O&G is still pretty stingy, but, interested.
