Permalink Reply by Skip Peel - Mineral Consultant on January 28, 2014 at 9:38 Greg, I have previously provided research and lease negotiation strategy for the owner of a much larger mineral acreage in NE Tangipahoa Parish. Most of my work is for those who own large interests and for that reason I usually work in concert with their O&G attorney. You send me a "friend" request and when accepted by me you will have access to my personal GHS page where you will find my off site email address.

$4.25/acre + proof of hunting insurance + signed agreement (renewed each year) = hunting lease.
Make sure your hunting lease agreement protects you and your property.

You have to join the group to be able to see the posts. That's what I have had to do in a couple of groups that I wanted to view the posts in.

Permalink Reply by Skip Peel - Mineral Consultant on January 29, 2014 at 11:00 It just needs a few members to start posting in it regularly and others will come out of the woodwork. I don't hunt much other than turkey these days but do I bass fish on Toledo Bend quite a bit.
The going rate around Huntsville, TX for a hunting lease is $7-10/acre and the terms can get burdensome, like being required to put in food plots you don't want, limits on the number of guns on any given day, etc.
Permalink Reply by Joe Deerhunter on January 30, 2014 at 6:41 In SW Arkansas, rates seem to be around $6/acre + proof of liability insurance ($1 million, ideally).
Usually there are provisos about lessees obeying all game laws, no permanent stands attached to timber, and sometimes more active things like maintaining food plots and boundary markings, use of dogs, etc.
I believe that J. Wayne Fears wrote a book on hunting leases; cannot recall title but I'll check my bookshelf and get back to you in a day or two.
The Texas A&M Real Estate Center is a good source of leasing info.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
