Question; When I see gas/condensate/water produced from a well, is the water from the "Dry" deep wells different from the water produced by the shallow wells?
The core and Tier One Haynesville acreage is not wet. Any water that you see in IP reports for those wells is "flowback" frac water. As in the BHP DeSoto well above there is zero condensate. Where the Haynesville Shale produces some condensate and NGLs it appears that there is some "produced" water (formation water). The portion of the basin that is Haynesville Sand produces some water. I haven't looked specifically at amounts. Shallow oil wells often produce large quantities of water as do the gas bearing formations Hosston and Cotton Valley.
Hey Skip,
Those wells reporting 0/64 choke, shouldn't that be "open" choke for no production choke? To me a 0/64 is a closed choke.
You can look back in the archives at previous Oil & Gas News discuccions to compare. I agree but I don't pay much attention to the numerous Caddo Pine Island stripper well reports. There is a further complication in that no one at the newspaper understands what the report data means. Typos are a common occurence.
In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of) nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
