with respect, there's no free lunch in the energy conversion business. what the article suggests that is now possible begs us to imagine that the supermajors have never explored this 'new' process so vaguely described.
imo, the/our supermajors have forgotten more about catalytic chemistry involving hydrocarbons conversion than all others know.
money talks, and, (well, you know) what walks.
yet, i wish them well. we, here, need more trade secrets.

cs, i'd include sasol on the/my short list.
the thing that threw me in the article was the radical notion, to me, of using a non-noble metal, lead, as a catalyst.

I am always reserved when reading these articles and buying into what they claim as, especially when all of the majors haven't found it yet either. However, it could be the ''throw-everything-at-the-wall approach" that some off the smaller groups are able to take that have enabled them to basically "stumble" across a breakthrough.
