Nabors Drilling #X17 reported 9 days DRILLING AHEAD @ 100', 5/23.

need to change dilling date to 5-23-14 you have worng  drilling date on this well

john, all the dates are correct.  The well spud 5/15.  The first rig report was 5/17.  The second report is 5/23.  The drilling depth did not change from the 5/17 report to the 5/23 report.  No explanation is provided.  Considering that the rig report is originated by the drilling contractor and compiled and published by Rig Data each Friday there is the possibility of minor mistakes and typos.  I post the report exactly as I receive it because I don't have access to the information to correct it.  Although subscription weekly rig reports are not perfect they are the closest to real time reporting that exists outside of the operators information stream.  The prime users of the rig reports are the companies that supply the rig during operations.  Their interest is in finding the location for deliveries.  Any information beyond that is of little importance to them.

Skip,

I appreciate you passing along the Rigdata report.

It provides a source of information that otherwise I would have to pay to get.

That said, the information isn't as reliable as you have come to believe.

According to eyewitness accounts and the Mississippi Oil and Gas Board, the Denkmann was spudded on May 23.  I don't know why the info provided by Rigdata said 5/15, but it is incorrect...perhaps that was the target date, I don't know.

Again, I appreciate the information and thank you for passing it along.  Even inaccurate information is sometimes better than no information.

Perhaps if you used the term "reported" information, then it would be something that folks couldn't find any reason to disagree.

Bernell, I do use the word "reported".

"Nabors Drilling #X17 reported 9 days DRILLING AHEAD @ 100', 5/23."

The entity reporting is the drilling contractor.  I don't have a problem with any member disagreeing or providing alternate drilling data.  The RigData report is all I have and it has proven quite accurate over six years.

You are correct here...reported is all you can do.

And, as you've stated the purpose of the rigdata is to help suppliers find the locations, so for that purpose it is useful.

All else should be taken with a grain of salt.

I find state databases to be poor sources for tracking drilling as most entries are made long after the fact.  Often the spudding of a well appears in the database after the rig has TD'ed and moved on.  Although there will be variations and periodic typos and mistakes, the subscription rig reports are the best source I've found to follow drilling as it happens.  Nothing beats first hand observations but that's not practical for those of us not in close proximity to development.

I hate to prove you worng skip I got my word from the peole who  were on the wellsite they were still hauling the rig in from the beechgrove 94 h site

john, all I do is post what the drilling contractor has reported to RigData.

you need to come down here in southwest missppi and see for your ownselelf the rigs and the and the wells then you will sse where I am comeing from

The History of GoHaynesvilleShale.com

GoHaynesvilleShale.com (GHS) was launched in 2008 during a pivotal moment in the energy industry, when the Haynesville Shale formation—a massive natural gas reserve lying beneath parts of northwest Louisiana, east Texas, and southwest Arkansas—was beginning to attract national attention. The website was the brainchild of Keith Mauck, a landowner and entrepreneur who recognized a pressing need: landowners in the region had little access to…
