Bernell, the rig report uses Drilling Ahead as a general category of operations. In other words operations such as tripping pipe, logging, and running casing would all fall under DA. If you are expecting what the rig is reporting to be the same as what GDP states in press releases you will continue to be disappointed.
Bernell, while attempting to straighten out some date variations in rig reports for a play other than the TMS I found that RigData made a mistake as part of a major change in how they format and deliver their reports. The June 13 report went out under the new format but was incorrectly dated June 20. The report date was used to calculate the days drilling so it mistakenly added 7 days to the total. The twelve day difference in the GDP TD date was too long to account for the work that normally comes after TD. Five days is a much better fit for tripping pipe, conditioning the hole, running the casing and cementing the casing. I'll pay closer attention to the date in the future but suspect that this was a one time anomaly associated with the report format change.
Nabors Drilling #X17 is still reporting 44 days Drilling Ahead with no change in depth @ 19128', 6/20. As I mention above the term, Drilling Ahead, covers all rig ops not just actual drilling. Can anyone confirm that the rig is still on the location?
It is, but is reportedly moving shortly.
Thanks, Bernell. You'll recall that Denkmann 33-28H #1 experienced a casing failure and only has 1379' of perforated lateral in 6 stages. I'll look forward to completion ops getting underway on the #2.
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
