Would anyone have an idea on the expected initial production from a horizontal Cotton Valley well in the Oak Hill field?

Thanks again for the information.  We are in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and rarely get over to see the property.  We'll make some calls and see if anyone has seen a bunch of trucks moving in.

Just so happens... they turned in the IP reports yesterday, I am happy to report!

You will have to look at both the G-1 and G-5 to get an idea of what is being produced. They reported an average MMcfe and that "e" is for "equivalent" meaning they used a formula which combines gas & liquids produced to come up with that average for those four wells. The well had only been flowing for six days on this test and was still flowing back a lot of water so it may improve once the well cleans up.

G-1: 5.719 MMcf

G-5: 103.0 Bbl (55.9 API)

jffree1,          Thank you so much for the information.  That rate of production sounds great to us and, as you say, it may improve.          Tom

jffree1,        Liz received her first check in May.  It was in line with our expectations because of the information you provided.  Thanks again.  Do you have any info on decline rates?  Well numbers for horizontal Cotton Valley wells in the area would be helpful.  (I could look up production on the Railroad Commission website.)                      Tom

Tom,

Sorry, no... I don't tract Cotton Valley production like I do the Haynesville so I don't have any figures at hand. The numbers available on RRC are what I would have if I did.

I would go look through some quarterly presentations from the operators in the area to see if they have shared any insight on CV decline rates. You'll probably just have to look through production on the CV wells around yours to get some idea what to expect. Don't be surprised if you find a lot of variance between wells & operators.

jffree1, My wife Liz has a small interest in BP-Fisher Gas Unit #1H. Does the RRC keep track of when the well is spud and its progress? If so, where would I find such information on the RRC website? Tom

Unfortunately the RRC does not currently require operators to report spud date 'real time'. This will be on the completions report (G1), but this will be after the well is completed. The best way to keep up with this is through RigData or another site. With these sites you can see where the rigs are for each operator. You will have to pay for this, because it costs money for them to collect all of the data from the different rig companies.

I can tell you that right now, BP looks to have 1 rig running in that area. The H&P 313 is on the Whipkey 1H with a spud date of 9/23/14. That well looks to be just to the southeast of the Fisher permit location.  You might be able to get information from H&P on their contract status with BP.

Tom,

That permit was just approved last week. They have a rig, as KOIL12 says, on the Whipkey Unit east of the Fisher Unit so maybe it won't be too long. I get a report so I see where the rigs are each week. I'll let you know when something happens.

RRC records the spud date on the W-1 permit page (eventually) but there is no telling when it will be reported to them. Some operators are prompt and others wait until completion.

KOIL 12 and jffree1,  Thanks for the information.        Tom

jffree1,

Just wondering if you had a report as to whether a rig has moved onto the Fisher Unit.

Tom

No, sir... nothing on Fisher yet. They moved the rig off of Whipkey just after Thanksgiving and they only have one rig down in Panola Co. right now.

jfree1, Do you have any info on production from the Whipkey Unit Well? Tom
