A letter arrived stating that they want to do seismic testing on a tract of land under lease. The curious part of this is that the same company that has our lease has a well 6000 feet away and another 7000 feet from the prospective seismic area. What would they be looking for that they already do not have from the other wells? The only thing I can think of is that both existing wells are shallow and maybe thay are looking to see the deeper images? Is this plausible? Also, is this generally a good sign if they have been active in the immediate vicinity already?

What's your opinion of potential productive shale in the area covered by this survey?
Seismic Exchange Inc. is also doing surveys in the same three parishes.Their independent agent told me it was a 500 plus sq. mile shoot also.My property down there is in Bienville Sec15 16N 7W.He told me Petrohawk was paying them but this shoot is called Bodcaw 3D project.Permit# FLO002.There is a capped gas well in that sector at old Sparta, never did much.At that time early 08 I had no clue of all the new questions that would come up.There has been shallow gas all over down there as long as I can remember.Sorry for just stabing this in.I just read the thread and didn't really know where it should or shouldnot go.I'm very likely lacking shale posting edicate,no disrespect intended
We were approached today by Veritas to do a 3D seismic shoot on our property in DeSoto Parish. Our property is in Secs 26 & 27 T12N R11W. We were offered $15 per acre to do the shoot and were told that the check request would be put in tonight and that we should have the check by the beginning of February. Paperwork has to be finalized on only two other landowners (1 being husband's aunt and the other a tenant of ours). The work has already begun, but the lady couldn't really give us a definite on when the shoot would be finished.
I may be wrong, Getoverit, but I think that 12/11 is one of the few townships which doesn't have a Haynesville well drilled in it yet. Do you know of any? I gave permission for a seismic shoot on my land in south Caddo Parish some months ago. They have surveyed it for the shoot, with surveyer's tape and orange stakes in the ground everywhere. They haven't shot it yet and I haven't been paid yet.
No, there haven't been any HS wells drilled in this township/range yet. We leased part of our land to Petrohawk back in May. I have been following very closely. lol
Yeah I have a small interest in Section 15 myself. Also leased to Petrohawk.
I would love to lease the adjacent section, section 27, to Petrohawk as well. Our lease on that section expired at the end of Dec. But I have yet to receive a return phone call from them. We have an offer on the table from Chesapeake, but I would much rather deal with Petrohawk. Right now, our 40 acres sits unleased. But we'll see what happens. We've already received notice that Chesapeake is trying to form a unit with Section 27 as well as a few others around us. I'm sure that's why Chesapeake (via Merlin Exploration) made us an offer.
