XTO names their wells in the Texas Haynesville after college sports teams. The Keydets are the VMI (Virginia Military Institute) Keydets in Lexington, VA. As an aside, the Penguins are the Youngstown State Penguins, in Youngstown, Ohio. The most interesting name so far is the Banana Slugs which is the mascot for the University of California-Santa Cruz. A banana slug is a bright yellow, slimy, shell-less mollusk found in the redwood florist floor of California. It is either the best nickname for a college team or the worst, depending on who you talk to. It is, however the best well in the Haynesville so far.
