Howdy,

I'm looking for a map that shows exactly where my family's mineral rights lease is located.

All I got so far is the survey location, called Chandler-Johnson A-19.

I've read it's somewhere South of Lufkin, TX.

Does anyone know how to find that location on GPS or a Google Maps if I drive there?

Much Appreciated,

Lance

It looks like the Bigfoot #1 still has life! As of 1/23/15 it is reported "Drilling Ahead" at 16554 feet,112 days drilling, and there is a notation "Prematurely Released". The rig is still listed as Ensign #927.

As of 1/30/15 the Bigfoot #1 is being logged at 19500 feet so it must be at or near total depth.

Do you have any recent updates on this?

The rig was gone as of last Friday. For real this time (I think). The report before that had them logging the well.

I spoke with a Landman with BBX a few weeks ago and he told me a few things:

1)Due to market conditions, they were on the last drill bit they were going to use to reach target depth.

2)They had yet to find a deep layer of shale they had hoped to locate.

3)Two different zones they passed through did show signs of natural gas release.

4)One of the layers is Austin Chalk, which the company has fracked at another location.

5)When the last drill bit stopped working, they were going to log aka scan the well hole using gamma rays, ect.

6)Geologists at BBX would then analyze the data and make a determination on what to do when market conditions make natural gas extraction profitable again.

So, at this point I'm in a wait and see holding pattern as far as when and if they will frack the well site.

Are there any updates on this???

I've heard nothing new on the well.

In the South Lufkin Activity thread Mike posted that Austin Chalk has been productive in the region, which is one of the layers I was told was found on the Bigfoot #1 well.

One of my brothers also spoke with a BBX person, and was told they may open up an old oil well located on our land, to drill for natural gas and see what they find.

All of this seems to be a wait and see matter until the market improves.

I believe this is only for oil that they found a lot of in our lease area. Prices have dropped so we are just waiting for them to rise again.
