Caroline, would you mind providing the names or serial numbers of your two shut in wells?  I can't think of a good reason why Comstock would shut in 50 wells.  Comstock currently lists 11 shut in wells with the state and those wells are all recent drills that are waiting on a frac crew.  As far as your lease situation goes, check your lease for shut in language.  Shutting In  existing wells is rather common when new wells in the immediate vicinity are being prepared for completion (fracking).  Also the Status Code 31 used for shut in wells has become usual for companies that have a number of recently drilled wells that will not be completed until a frack crew is available.  That can take a while.

I was told they shut in 5 wells but I compared my previous statement to August 2017 statement & I only found 4 wells that have been dropped since last month. I called Lisa Witherspoon at Comstock but she was out of office. They directed me to Christine in Revenue Accounting 972-668-8808. She said the wells have not produced since April 2017. However all my previous statements show production each month until August Statement. I believe they run two behind though.
What does a serial number look like? I am looking at Statement. There is a LA-307-1100 also

Skip, this lady from Revenue Accounting told me the wells are going dry. She said my wells (warren)
haven't produced since April and Comstock is in the process of shutting in 50 weills in Haynesville area. I have been just sick. I hope the other wells above keep producing. Let me know if you run across any information or hear any comments. Thanks.

I was not paid anything for those 4 wells for June Production. According to Accounting there was no production. This doesn't sound right. I have always trusted Comstock but now I have reservations.

I think you may have misunderstood the lady from Revenue Accounting.  Click on the serial number for the Warren well above and scroll down the LUW Production portion of the well file.  The unit production for all the HOSS SUAA wells (they are all the same) is reported as 11,372 mcf of natural gas and 56 barrels of condensate.  You are paid on your share of unit production, not by the well.  That production would be about $32,410 for the natural gas and about $4,592 for the condensate.  That's not a lot conssidering the expense of servicing nine HOSS wells but there is also Cotton Valley production - CV RA SUK and Haynesville Shale production for the 5 HA RA SURR Whitten wells.

They cannot shut them in for over a year without some reason. But I suspect, this late in the season that they simply don't have a market to sell into. The glut is real. I suspect after the weather cools and demand rises, they likely will open them back up. Just guessing, but I see any number of wells that are choked back in the summer or shut in temporarily due to the pipeline being at capacity.

Depends what wells we are discussing.  Keep in mind Comstock operates a lot of non-Hynaesville wells, mostly Hosston.  Since these are vertical unit wells, Comstock or any other operator for that matter, could legally shut-in all but one well and still maintain the lease rights.  The state allowable for a unit allows an operator to produce up to that amount with any combination of wells.  As wells get older, they may need more work and become more costly.  Shutting some in reduces Lease Operating Expenses (LOE).  In Comstock shuts in a Haynesville well then the questions become, do they hold all depth lease rights and do they have wells producing from other depths that will maintain the lease rights.  There are a lot of reasons to shut in a well, each case may be different.
