If you only had a year to live, what would you want to do? (assuming you had all of the means to accomplish it).

Would you want to go Scuba diving? See the Grand Canyon? Write a book? Sail around the world? Just enjoy all of the wonderful things you already have?

I would take to the open road and enjoy this beautiful country. My husband and I love to RV and we would load up puppy and take off until the funds ran out. We have been all over the Southwest and West coast of California, but I would love to explore our capitol, visit Amish country, see the beauty of Wyoming and Montana and overall just drive till I see a place I want to stop and then drive some more. I have lived in other parts of the world but there is so much beauty in our very own country and so many places I hope to see one day. I would make no plans or iteneraries, just go and take the back roads a bit.
The prettiest place that I have been so far is San Francisco.
KB, did you get to see the bushman down at the pier, he usually hung out on the wide sidewalk on pier side? He had a big bush, kinda of like a large tumble weed. He would crouch behind it on solid concrete surrounding him and when some unsuspecting sole would walk by, he would leap from behind that bush and scare the crap out of folks. It is absoultly amazing how many people never would notice until he jumped. Sat there all evening drinking beer and laughing our tails off!
Ah, Santa Barbara. Home of DCOR.
Highway 1 rocks! Best
Only driving north on it up to Big Sur, driving south & hairpin turns ... YIKES!
Parker,
It's a toss-up for me, but Vermont might have the edge. The "People's Republic of Vermont" govt have made it hard on the citizenry via taxation, or so I'm told by a friend that lives there. But it truly looks like what I might imagine much of America looked like about 125 years ago.

Thank you Mrs. Simms,

I hope you and your husband are doing fine. I like your advice and I'm sure trying to heed it.
So many places, so little time, I don't know where to start. Where are some of your favorite places?
Parker - The important thing here is that, for all we know, we DO only have a year to live. For all we know, we only have TODAY to live. So, how to live it?

Excerpted from the poem "Success" by Bessie Anderson Stanley

"He has achieved success who has
Lived well, laughed often, and loved much ...

Who has never lacked appreciation of Earth's beauty
Or failed to express it;

Who has always looked for the best in others and
Given them the best he had;

Who's life was an inspiration
Who's memory a benediction."

Your question - How would one live the last year of one's life? Answer one's calling, find purpose, achieve self actualization ... As for myself, I'd spend a lot of time with friends & family, see that the kids & animals in my community are helped, see that some flowers are planted along roadsides & public places, then I'd take some time to just dance & read.

Thanks for the topic & best - sesport :0)
sesport,

Thanks for the poem.
Learn to fly my Spitfire.
I would keep doing just what I am doing now, buying oil & gas leases in the Great State of Louisiana. I get to travel around the countryside and meet new people and get paid to do it.
