Last info on SONRIS seemed to indicate spud of 7/9, surface casing complete and drilling. Today, Nabors 507 derrick down, loaded on trucks and headed to another location

What happened? Could it just be mechanical failure and another rig will be set up to complete the well, or is it all over?

I'm not expert, but looking at the permit, that was probably the "spudder" rig, they'll send in one of the big boys to finish.
Sheeza, Essay is probably correct. Petrohawk tends to use smaller rigs to drill the vertical section and then bring in a larger rig equipped with top drive to drill the horizontal section.
Chesapeake does that too. They spud with a small rig and within a week or so the big rig comes in, along with the trailor house village.
