Most of the horizontal laterals for HS have been in the 4000-5000 ft. range or less due to the unit sizes. Are there any technical or economic reasons that laterals could not be extended to further distances, say 7000-8000 ft., to cover more area with a single well and get more production?

Bud, in a recent discussion one of the companies expressed concern with higher risk of getting production casing run if the laterals were extended to longer lengths.
Petrohawk has permitted a 7000 foot lateral on the Hamel well, albeit it is an irregular section.
