Hi There:

My family owns a piece of land in Columbia County, Arkansas and we are currently negotiating an Oil and Gas Lease with a small energy company. I'm not from the area, so am looking for some advice, especially regarding what a landowner could expect for lease bonuses and royalty rates. And, also maybe the top 5 things to look out for from O&G companies ... I'm concerned that not being in the area may make us a bit of a target.

A professional lawyer contact would be appreciated, if anyone in this forum knows of one.

Thanks!

Stephen

Stephen, there is a lot of things you need to look at a lease before you sign on the doted line . The first thing is there is a lot oil and gas lawyers out there that do not anything about oil and gas they say they do but they dont. You need a smart land man to do the deal for you
Good idea ... my dearly departed brother was a Land Man ... he had lots of contacts in Calgary, Canada so I expect there's a network of referrals. Thx!
We received updated terms: $175 / acre and 20%. Based on other discussions on this thread, this seems like it's not on par with what else is going on ...
