Many leases have a phrase like "and other considerations". I think this covers the $1/2 million check they gave him.

The lease had a place where the bonus would be listed....but it said
"NO" dollars.

Is that standard practice? To not list the amount?

Thanks...good to know. I guess that keeps the bonuses from being public record. Good for the O&G's.

Many leases do not include the entire agreements, especially for larger tracts of land. Sometimes the lease will state there is a side letter agreement and this is not recorded with lease. More than once I have given my lease, along with neighbors, simply to get a committment to drill a well within certain short time frame. At the same time we got higher royalty for lease.
