Unless they have something nefarious up their sleave, then this is very positive news of which I'm so glad to hear. Thanks so much. In the buisness world you're either growing/evolving or dying so it stands to reason they are trying to grow/evolve which is good news.
The risk involved is only in timing. Energy source is not an option. Everyone on the planet needs energy. Using natural gas as an energy source is a given. Most oil reserves are in countries other than the United States. To continue to use oil as the primary energy source is to continue to depend on those countries to provide it. That is a risk.
There is plenty of domestic coal for use as energy but coal is so harmful to the environment that it's future is at risk.
Nuclear energy is expensive to develop, takes time and has a fear stigma yet to be overcome.
Wind, solar, waste and other recycling types of energy are minimal in terms of providing enough energy to be significant.
Natural gas is the obvious choice for primary energy source for the present and into the foreseeable future. Baker Hughes investment of 5.5 billion dollars in U.S. Natural Gas shale formations is betting with a full house, aces over kings. I'd go all in with that hand.
