A public hats off to the folks that work on producing the wells.

I just wanted to take a minute to recognize the hardworking folks that work on the rigs and the companies/ equipment servicing the rigs. Every day that I drive by the well on HWY 80 that Chesapeake is drilling I have to think about what they've had to deal with as far as weather and are still dealing with right down to tonight. Imagine standing out there today in this pouring rain working on the rig. This rain has been brutal. But still they keep at it 24/7 while we're all sitting at home warm, dry and cozy dreaming of royalty checks. Those folks are the ones that make it happen. If the opportunity presents itself and you run into some of the folks working on a site near you, take the chance to thank them for their hard work. In some form we each stand to benefit from it down the line.

HMI. Ditto. We seldom think of, or at least we seldom discuss, those hard working folks except when there is an injury or death. They have demanding jobs. And they deserve much of the recognition for the extended economic impact of the shale. Shreveport has historically been a center for drilling related services since the early 1900's with the Caddo Pine Island Field. When I was growing up, half of the Agurs Industrial district was drilling related companies. A long decline has turned into a new boom. And the capital expenditures related to development and the royalty income that it generates will benefit our economies for the next 30 to 40 years.
Great post.
I thought this same thing last summer only more in relation to working outdoors doing such demanding, dangerous work in the brutal heat and humidity. Most of us never in our lives see anyone working on a well or, like Skip said, think much about the actual process of drilling unless someone gets injured or killed.
