LA Senate Bill 404 by Senator Barrow Peacock on recommendation of the Louisiana State Law Institute has passed and is now the law.
The act is designed to regulate certain transfers of mineral rights that place landowners and other persons at risk of exploitation.

I am aware of some members recently receiving mail solicitations for the purchase of their minerals with enclosed mineral deed. That may or may not be in violation of the law (I don't have a copy of the letter at this time) but it reminds me to re-post the text of Act 179 for the benefit of anyone who may receive a letter covered by the law.
