I own some land (38 acres) in Section 8, Township 22N, R15W and I was wondering if anyone knew of any drilling or mineral leasing in the area? I know the main Haynesville Shale is 20 miles South, but is there any action in the Cotton Valley?? Thank for your help

Samson Contour and Devon establish drilling & production units for the Haynesville, Cotton Valley and Smackover zones in 20N - 16, 15 & 14 W but have not permitted any wells. Unit orders are good indefinitely. Leases are not. I suspect that the oldest leases in the area of these units will begin to expire late this year or early in 2011. A good bit is leased through 2012 and the only indication of future development interest in this depressed price environment may be attempts to extend those oldest leases. Much of the Devon leasehold extends north to the Arkansas line but stays close to the river. I'm unsure if S8 of 22N - 15W would be of interest to them as it may be a little too far west. I wouldn't approach them but I'd sure watch them. And keep up with your friends and neighbors where the units are formed.
ok, tahnk you very much for the information!
