I've recently done some research on the consequences of being a Hold-Out Mineral Owner and I came across this picture. I would say that it pretty accurately depicts the outcome. See below

Does anyone want to guess what the two banners say?

Bottom banner:  Go around to the back door.

Hey Max,

Are you a descendant of Jack Lewis?

BirdDawg,

No, but I knew him.  Mr. Jack was a good man and he could stretch a dime further than anyone I ever knew.

When I was a kid, he hired several of us to hoe thistles out of his hay field.  He subsidised us by furnishing the hoe and cold water, but only the first hoe.  If you were careless and broke the hoe, you had to bring your own if you still wanted to hoe thistles.  The pay was good and only a few of us boys were able to complete the job.

I though of Mr. Jack not long ago when my son was trying to revive a bad battery.  I told him it couldn't be done, the only person I knew that was able to get a battery to last 12 years was Mr. Lewis.  He had one in his school bus that lasted that long and he was upset when he had to replace it.

So what about a half-handed offer and promises to send a paper with lease info. Then nuthin! Now the contact says, hope we don't have to meet with the Ark. commission...blah blah. No offer was ever sent. Can't be a hard head if "contact" is pressuring for reply... but no offer is made. I guess I am saying there are reasons the mineral/land owner may appear to be a hard-head holdout on their own island. What say ye on this one?
PI everyone`s deal is different. I just say`n I have known some people that have made the DEAL with O/G Co. so difficult the Co. walks away, the oil and gas business can change over night .One day things are good the next day they are pulling offers off table.

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
