This could be a very hot conversation, but I think it needs to happen.  Here is the first study on fracking and property values. We will see more studies like this one and likely lawsuits too. Here is a study by Duke and done in Pennsylvania. Each of you should read it as this is something we must all deal with.

What do our neighbors think about our natgas wells?  Do we care what they think? We may have to because they can vote and hire lawyers and lobby elected officials - and, there are many more of them than there are of us. I could see fears of groundwater or whatever making neighbors scared as hell of natgas wells.

I don't want my neighbors scared of anything on my property. I value good neighbors and depend on mine. You probably are the same way.  We need a lot more education because so many of the fears about fracking are overblown but have been poorly refuted. Thirty second ads on CNN do not do enough. That is why I have devoted so much of my attention to new technologies that make the process safer and more efficient.

Hurt property values?

Anyone priced property lately?

PG,   the study is about neighboring properties in Pennsylvania. I am sure the studies would differ by region. People in Louisiana and Texas have more experience with O&G, but that's not true in most of the US.

besides, does anyone on GHS ever trust any company with their royalty check. Read the past blogs. Why should our neighbors trust what they cannot see thousands of feet below their land? It may take a long time for people to be comfortable with that, esp in areas that are not usually drilled.

Yes...I think the mind set is different in the North East than here..

I think all this drilling activity here has caused land prices to go up..

Unfortunately my neighbor didn't care when she allowed a noisy compression station to be built next to my property? I promise you it affected my property use.
