Attached map shows Indigo II's ~ acreage focus in the TMS. Addtionally it shows the the 1 completed vertical, 1 drilling horizontal and 1 proposed horizontal.
Indigo is drilling the TMS. See attached cross-section. They are simply calling it eagleford to ride on the wave of success in South TX (publicity/marketing). Don't read into it anymore than that.
Jay,
I lump it in with the AC as a basinal unit. I know this goes agianst the conventional norm, but from the S.TX EGLFD logs I have seen the yellow highlighted section is equavalent. This is simply based on my experience. Take it with a grain of salt if you like.
Since the TMS is ~ 500-700' of gross thickness and the operators are only targeting the lower 200' I think it throws people off alittle.
I hate to share to much. Folks get cranky if you speculate.
The single well cross-section is from Avoyelles Parish.
"Legacy Austin Chalk producing areas (e.g. Giddings Field) have not proven to be the best drilling targets for the Eagle Ford. One theory is the Eagle Ford Shale formation improves as you move south due to degradation of the Austin Chalk’s reservoir properties, which in turn means the Eagle Ford expelled less oil and retained more."
In other words, good AC prospect, poor EF prospect. The EF is thought to be the source rock for the AC, just like the TMS is the source rock for the Lower and Upper Tusc.
An unconformity in a stratigraphic feature such as a broad erosion of an area can cause a significant gap in the stratigraphic record, but that is not what happened in this region.
Tight lines!
"Indigo Minerals announced their 2nd Tuscaloosa Marine Shale well today. The well, Bentley Lumber 23H #1, is located in section 23, T5N-R5W, Rapides Parish, Louisiana. It is permitted to a proposed total measured depth of 15,500' and is projected to include a 4,000' horizontal lateral section targeting the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale (they call Eagle Ford) at approximately 10,600' true vertical depth. They state that the well is anticipated to be completed through the horizontal segment with 15 fracture stimulation stages."

Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
