GOOD NEWS FOR CAMTERRA LESSORS? - EXCERPT FROM SCHULMBERGER PRESS RELEASE

in Louisiana, Schlumberger Drilling & Measurements directional drilling technologies were deployed on a complex directional well in the Haynesville Shale for Camterra Resources Partners Ltd. PowerDrive rotary-steerable tools were used to drill the well at temperatures of up to 318 deg F with rates of penetration nearly three times faster than previously achieved with conventional motors. Subsequent wells by this operator have been awarded to Schlumberger, with specialist extended-reach-drilling engineering expertise being provided by the Schlumberger K&M technology group, a leader in extended-reach drilling technology.

I know this came from a "good vibes" press release, but hypothetically with drilling the lateral 3 x faster, how much money could be saved?
GL, I don't know. I did not post the report excerpt because of the purported cost savings. I posted it because some of our members are Camterra lessors who have complained of being hbp'ed by vertical HA wells and who opined that Camterra did not seem willing or capable of drilling and successfully completing horizontal HA wells. Camterra's leasehold is in a highly prospective area of the Play with the potential to generate significant royalty income. Camterra just has to learn to develop their deep rights or JV with an operator that is capable. I am hoping that this represents a good turn of events in that regard.
The typycal dayrate for a rig is around $25,000-40,000
That should make for a tidy savings.
That's assuming these 'power-drive rotary' tools aren't 3x as expensive.
