THE GHS HAYNESVILLE SHALE RIG TRACKER. 2023
I'll update each week so we can follow the rig count. I am only counting rigs drilling the Haynesville and Bossier formations. Many industry rig numbers are for the "Haynesville Area", however they may defined that, and includes wells drilling other formations.

Permalink Reply by Steve P on June 25, 2022 at 10:01 I don't know anything about Aethon, but they have 14 rigs running in the Haynesville?
Permalink Reply by Skip Peel - Mineral Consultant on June 25, 2022 at 10:07 Aethon is a private company so no corporate presentations and few press releases. The rig count is not an accurate indicator of the company's Haynesville leasehold. Aethon acts as the JV operator for Black Stone Minerals so I don't think there is any Aethon leasehold in Angelina and San Augustine counties. That accounts for 8 rigs and possibly an additional one in Shelby County. The rigs in Bienville, Bossier and DeSoto are drilling on Aethon leasehold acquired from Questar and J-W Operating. Aethon has been rumored to be looking for a buyer but has not found one. The company is now rumored to be looking at the possibility of an IPO and going public.

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
