Haynesville Shale Drilling Permits (Louisiana)

Attached are two charts that track the trend of monthly Haynesville Shale drilling permits issued in Louisiana since 2009.  As you will note the peak occurred in mid-2010 with the level trending down to July's value of 54.

 

The second chart includes the Haynesville Shale drilling rigs in Louisiana since 2010.  The two trends mirror each other with the downturn in permitting occurring slightly ahead of the rig count decline.

Yes! This should indicate if the Haynesville Shale activity is picking up or declining..of course permits doesn't necessarily mean more drilling as some permits never get drilled and expire but it should show the optimism for potential activity..huh?
