I can say that Chesapeake certainly paid me and I am thankful for it. I signed late in the game on 9-11-08, my bank gave me the all clear on the funds on 9-18-08 and the broker was out of Lafayette.

There have been problems with Chesapeake but there have also been recent drafts that WERE paid also. Mr. Spot has made many across-the-board comments in several different discussions indicating that Chesapeake has not made good with ANY leases. If Mr. Spot's intentions are as he states, that he is just trying to warn Groovy Grove, he has accomplished that. But he appears to keep on and on stating that NO ONE has been and/or will be paid by Chesapeake. I don't see the point of his comments.
Subdivisions and things like that are hard to drill in the first place. When you have restrictions placed in an OGML that require sound barriers to be placed around these areas of drilling then those areas will be placed on the back burner. I am all for being ECO friendly but a line needs to be drawn when it comes to drilling in a place where it costs 5 million as opposed to 6 million. Why wouldn't a company choose to drill where the profits may be higher and the cost to drill lower? People with a quarter acre can bitch but it is a silent bitch with the oil companies, they are looking for bigger fish to fry.
Hey Insomniacnla
Who was the broker that handled your lease? I also have a lease that was handled in Lafayette.
I am curious to see if it is the same one. Mine was by MAC RESOURCES, and I don't know anything past that. There are no O&G companies mentioned and I can't find much on MAC RESOURCES. I do have a couple of hot leads on the owner.
At first, Chesapeake assigned me to a landman named Jimmy Reynolds at Paramount Energy. Then after about 2 weeks, Jimmy told me that he now worked for Steve Denny in Lafayette but that he and Mr. Denny would still be handling my lease. All documents (most importantly my lease and check) had the name of Chesapeake on them so I did not get the name of Mr. Denny's company. This is the contact info I had though:

James Reynolds
Agent for Chesapeake Louisiana, L.P.
409 Lee Ave, 2nd Floor, Suite 6
Lafayette, LA 70501
337-233-2929 (o)
337-351-0581 (m)
Thanks for the reply. I signed my lease with a lawyer representing MAC RESOURCESand the check came from MAC which I have traced to a home in Lafayette. I haven't yet found out if they are just buying and flipping or WHAT. I do have the guys name and am going to contact him about it this week. Would just like to know whom to expect to see pulling up in my yard. Again thanks for the info, it's not the same person, but this man might know the other. Tight bunch know what I mean Vern...
You may want to check the courthouse records if you can in the conveyance index, direct and indirect for MAC Resources. You can find out if MAC assigned your lease to another company. Check in the parish in which your leased property is located.

Were you just curious as to who may own your lease now or are you chasing your money? I hope that it is just curiosity.
Steve's brother, George, is still with Chesapeake. Steve is located in Lafayette and his brokerage firm operates under the name of Classic Petroleum. Steve is a reputable landman. I have had dealings with him over the years and found him to be an honorable individual.
I liked dealing with Mr. Denny, he was very business-like and he did not try and bs and act like we were friends or anything. It was a business transaction.

I'd like to see things chill for awhile! Maybe my lease will expire and get to do it all over again! I don't have a clue who my lease was likely flipped to! Maybe to a company who can't afford to drill now, huh? Maybe they can't afford to pay for the 2 year extension! That would be a blessing for me!

I heard commercials on tv where they are talking about using NG for liquid motor fuel! That would be as good as CNG, wouldn't it?
Bottom line is someone will eventually be drilling even if CHk bite's the dust!
Chk paid me in october by check and it cleared the bank. Talk to your landman, he can tell you where you stand. Good luck!
hey groovy grove posted that the landman told him that they were invoicing chesapeake and that they hope that they pay it. what kind of answer is hope they pay it? trying to help out groovy grove.
