Tony,  Thanks for posting. As you know I have been "preaching" on getting this done in the Ark/La stateline area for several years.. We have good, widespread production from Petit for more than 50 years which I can remember. But it produced long before that. I expect to see lot more development of Petit and several other formations which I feel are viable candidates for hor. drilling. I think your land and mine  as well as many, many others have good chance to benefit from this. As you know we got the land in Horsehead field released after having produced for 50+ years in Petit. That field only included about 2,000 acres in Columbia County. Hope to see your great efforts pay off for you in near future. I do hope that your neighbors appreciate your expenditure of time and money. I do appreciate all your efforts.

And all your travel from Lexington. You kept the pot boiling.

tony-- first ones that come to mind--- check out the Decker Switch Pettit Field in Houston County-- one well the Kleischmidt #1H drilled by Winn/CHK put on sales April 2005 has producted 5.3 BCF of gas in 6 years and still flowing >20 mmcf per month. Well has 4 laterals off same vertical in Pettit. There are also some Pettit H oil wells through out East Texas. SWN has drilled some in Northern part San Augustine County recently.

How far (miles) south into Louisiana does those state line formations go?

P.G.,  Having lived away from North La. for over 50 years I have mostly been involved in North Shongaloo-Red Rock field Haynesville and East Haynesville Field and a couple of small fields in Ark. so I haven't given that much thought to areal extent of individual formations. In my area we Have about 10 or more productive formations. I know that Smackover  extends at least 40 miles south from La. Ark. line but is most productive within a distance of about 10 miles south from stateline. And we have Haynesville production in about same areas as well as Cotton valley which I know is productive much further south as I know you are aware. Lots of Pettet production within 8 to 10 miles of stateline. Shallower formations including Hill Sand, Tokio, and Buckrange. Historically there has been lot of production from those last 3 mentioned. And very good Smackover development with drilling continuing.  Don't think we will ever see Haynesville shale production up there.

 

I try to stay involved in promoting development in that area. That keeps me busy as I want to be.

Thanks...

I have some property (20 acres) outside of Plain Dealing which is about seven sections south of the state line if I'm not mistaken...just wondering if there were anything (formations) that might be under it with all the talk going on about formations along the state line..

By the way..we purchased it from a Sanders..I thought maybe he might have been part of your family and you may have personal knowledge of the area..

P.G.,   The land you own probably was owned by a relative of mine. I did have relatives in PD but am not familiar with their land ownership.

 

I would say that given the general description you give that your land could become viable for exploration either now or at some future date. If you want to give me legal description I would be happy to do a little research and give a more informed reply.   GOOD LUCK

The property is at the end of Phillip's road in sec 11-22n-13w just outside of PD...I'll have to go find my papers for the legal description..

On sonris shows that there were wells drilled in the area years ago but all look shallow and plugged and abandoned..none were drilled on the property..
