For those members who have previously expressed interest in a SONRIS class conducted by the Louisiana Office of Conservation, Keith and I are working out the details. I expect we will know the specifics within a few weeks. Because of the nature of the class and the requirements of the LOC, the venue will be one that serves lunch as there will be a mid-day break. Sponsors will pick up the cost of the venue but we anticipate that those members attending will pay for their lunch. The class will be four to five hours in length and we plan to have some experienced O&G attorneys for Q and A during the lunch break. If the time or expense involved is inconvenient for the GHS class, Mr. Terry's class may serve to offer an alternate opportunity. The LOC/GHS class will cover SONRIS Classic in addition to SONRIS Lite.

Skip, I would like to attend the LOC/GHS SONRIS class. Please keep us posted on location/date /time. Do we need to preregister for this class?

Pre-registration would be helpful. We are negotiating to have the class at the University Club in downtown Shreveport. There is secure parking across the street and a lunch buffet. There are two meeting rooms and the decision regarding which to reserve will depend on the number of members interested in attending. I am waiting to hear back from the LOC staffer in regard to potential dates. The class we are organizing is actually about half the regular class. The portion we would like to exclude is the Conservation portion that deals with filing DNR/LOC mandated industry reports on-line. As the LOC staff wishes to provide training for industry employees also, they are soliciting some of the larger operators to sponsor an additional class for those in the industry. It makes sense for them to attempt to accommodate as many as possible as they do not come to Shreveport often. I will post the details when they become available.
