Anyone know why Petrohawk has stopped leasing. Word is out that a big bunch of landmen are getting layed off. Talk is that today is the last day on buying leases.

Talked to their rep two days ago. Offer was made and my position was taken back to the table. They have been slow to make decisions, I must say.
From what I have heard they have quit leasing as of today.
TD,P. My phone rang twice with an associate and a client with large holdings asking for confirmation of the same rumor yesterday. I looked at HK activity in a couple of Clerk of Court remote records and did not see anything that supports that possibility but as you well know there is a time lag between what is going on in the field and what is being recorded. I have noticed an increase in negative Internet articles on HK. They have had a tough time since their primary source of credit, Lehman Brothers, was allowed to go bankrupt. If the rumor is true, IMO it was a very abrupt development. And probably puts HK in line to be acquired. I think there would be a number of interested buyers.
Economics 101
On a very reliable source the Hawk has "reached their goals for acreage in the Haynesville" as of yesterday. Basically you better know how to do more than lease otherwise you are one of those job hunters
Well I've reached mine to. (until I have more revenue)
Lol dur dur not as simple as revenue. I am leaning in the direction of skip's comment
Hey NA, as of next Wednesday I will be wildcatting in Beauregard Parish and Evangeline Parish. I am not a team playrer and I don't relate well to other landmen. I will not be drinking beer with landmen in the evening, I will will be drinking beer with the Lessor.
That's really interesting.
seems between Louisiana and E TX JV acreage that they hold a significant position and more than enough to drill and focus on
Petrohawk has a large number of "stranded drilling units" in NW. LA. I do not know if this situation exists in E. TX.
Skip Peel..what do ya mean by "stranded drilly unit"? In E Tx seems like Newfield, Noble Energy in Shelby and EOG Resources in Naocgdoches are the operators
