Thanks for the reminder. Another organization we might check out & support is NGV America. We have a vehicle plant on the verge of standing empty, we have the natural resource under our feet. We need to urge all, mineral owners, gov't. officials, O&G companies, to develop this as a package deal.

I agree about NGV America. Funding should come out of the Defense budget to speed infrastructure development. It is a national security issue after all.
Obama has talked of massive infrastucture improvents as part of a stimulas package. Maybe a massive move to install cng pumps across the country.

Retail access would make cng cars built by Honda and Toyota viable, we could force Ford and GM to build their own as a condition for bailout cash.

Increased natural gas use would lead to a boom in the exploration for natural gas. It is still cost prohibitve to import LNG, so domestic drilling would be needed.....

We of course would have to build pipelines. The problem with big interstate pipelines is aquiring ROW's. Why don't we just lay government funded pipelines in the interstate highway RoW's? The government would own and maintain the pipeline, just like the roads, and charge a fee for companies to access the capacity.
Hows that for a stimulas plan??

even if it doesn't jump start the econmomy, we get a good n.g. infrastructure.
Baron,
A few years ago I believe they laid fiber optic cables in the interstate right-of-way. I heard it was friends of the Clinton administration. Don't attack me, that was just what I heard. I am talking about I-20 specifically.
They made a deal with the state and the state would get some of the fibers in the line for some of the payment. The line on I-49 lay dormant with no repeaters placed every seven miles or whatever distance they are required. The cables were exposed on top of the ground for the bush hogs to run over for years because the company went bankrupt or something. Haven't read whatever happened to the deal but you can bet the state got screwed.
I believe the cables parrallel the ROW. But are just outside it. This is just what I have heard in the discusions regarding cyber command.
This cable is the one the cyber center wants to tie into.
They were on the ROW on I-49 South of Alexandria. May have went off every now and then but you could see where the loups were coiled up where they came out of the ground for the repeaters.
KB,

To my knowledge only public utilites get emminent domain. Is this correct?

And since when has the Fed. Government cared about profits (or losses) in the energy buisness?
Baron - I think this was a discussion we all had re. the woman in the Ft. Worth area who didn't want pipeline in her yard. I don't remember the details, but I believe it ended up in court and settled quietly, but central to the issue was pipeline company's exercise of eminent domain.
I think I can guess your stand on this issue.

The problem is we need more big diameter (46'' pipelines) pipes. I still think the edge of the interstate an federal highways ROW (at least in rural areas) would be ideal. the ROW is already there.

The Lithium Connection to Shale Drilling

Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…
