My mother has 20 acres in Sec 4&5, T 4N, R 12W - she is interested in leasing minerals rights. Is there any activity in this area?  Sorry, this land is in Sabine Parish.

From SONRIS, it doesn't look like there's much, if any, activity going on at the current time.

Has she heard from anyone, or heard anything about any leasing activity in the area?
Not that I'm aware of. I am just trying to help her possibly lease the mineral rights. Any ideas? :-)
My thoughts would be to NOT even try to lease until there's some nearby activity. Offers, if any, are likely to be small. You'd hate to take some piddling offer and then find out later there's some really big finds and big bonuses later.

Wait and see if anything develops near you.

Of course, if someone shows up and offers you a big price per acre, that would be different.

To those more in the know isn't this area too far south for the big plays in this area?
At present she is a bit far South. If someone would come in wanting to drill the James Lime or other shallow formation that would be alright but she would need to reserve the deep rights.
Not much going on. There was a Austin Chalk well in section 14 backin 2008, it went very badly.
