I called Encana who said that litium had been found in Caddo Parish, Bethany Longstreet. How would mineral owners get paid?

Interesting. Encana has been gone from the Haynesville Shale play for over ten years. And the current data available on lithium shows no commercial concentrations anywhere in Louisiana. The focus is on SW AR and E TX. I wouldn't be concerned with what a mineral owner might be paid until you get an offer to lease.
I meant Expand. She said they have found lithium in the HS. I guess she doesn't know what she is talking about. If lithium were there, I wonder how long it would take for that to happen.
Same reply. It really doesn't matter who said it. There is lithium in brine in many fields and states. The question is, what is the concentration? Early when this hit our radar we looked at and discussed the USGS database from 1975 that listed the elements found in produced well water. If the concentration is not a minimum of 300 to 400 parts per million, it is not economic now. That is what SW AR has and E TX has up to 650 ppm. I doubt anyone would invest in a Louisiana supply that is 75 to 125 ppm.
Thank you
You're welcome, Deborah. The LSU study testing Smackover wells is underfunded and there aren't many producing SMK wells to test. If Louisiana really wished to test for lithium it would take a bigger budget and should test formations other than the SMK. Hopefully the state will get some benefit from refining lithium or some other off shoot. Then again the lithium plants that will be built will not ship any lithium before late 2027 or early 2028. By then lithium may have competition from battery technologies that do not have the problems that lithium has. Right now must of what my internet alerts bring me are articles on battery fires and the fact that the airlines have banned most lithium battery devices.
Thank you Skip!
Thanks Skip for your always insightful comments. You are "The Oracle of Shreveport!"
You are too kind, Joe. In the early days of GHS.com I was called much worse names than oracle. LOL!
