What is the longest lateral in the Haynesville? How about the greatest number of Frac Stages? I'm assuming that with the longer the lateral and greater number of Frac Stages - comes the greatest amount of gas!!!!

The longest HA laterals are likely in E. TX. as the size and shape of TX. drilling units can be formed to accommodate the optimal length. The most frac stages I can recall john is 20. I'm relatively sure there have been some laterals over 5000'. Please keep in mind the longer the lateral and the greater the frac stages, the more expensive the well. At some point operators reach a point of diminishing returns. And the possibility of mechanical problems may increase with both.
Longest lateral that I know of is the HK Hamel well. lateral is just under 7116'.
Studies show that wells with more frac stages tend to produce some what better. Bottom line: lateral has got to follow good rock to be a top producer.
Not being familiar with XTO completion designs, how many frac stages do you think a ~7,000' lateral would involve? I'm thinking that the number is likely greater than the 20 I posted earlier.
It looks to me that EOG's Crane et al 1-H in Nacogdoches, Co, which recently reported an IP of 31 million, has a lateral length of 6640.8' of which 2,752.3' are in Chrino, A-17 and 3,888.50' are in R. Totin, A-56. I believe it had a 16 stage frac.
Does anyone know if they are looking any further south of Sam Rayburn Lake, as The crane is almost on the north shore , There were directional wells drilled around Brookeland in the Austin caulk, although this is much deeper, just asking if anyone knows the direction this is going, as I have minerals on the south shore area.
Joe King, I saw your question yesterday about the Brookeland area. The way I understand it, if there is shale that far south it would be very deep and very high temperature. I doubt that it will get investigated as long as gas price is low and as long as there are easier and cheaper places to drill. I own minerals just north of Devil's Ford Creek so I am watching for any sign of a move in that direction.
Thanks, for the info
However, it seems that as they inch south, the production numbers are a lot bigger. Thus making the payouts greater I would think. I have a large tract partly in Sabine county and Jasper county very close to the lake , and there has been some seimic work already done. I am thinking Brookeland will be drilled at some point.
Can depleted wells be refraced for more production?
So concensus is that @ 7,000' is the longest lateral in the Haynesville? Would the forum know of longer laterals anywhere in the country? Ditto for Frac Stages?
John, some super-laterals in the Woodford Shale in Oklahoma have approached 10,000 ft in length.

The Lithium Connection to Shale Drilling

Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…
