Nat Gas storage below 2 Tcf with bigger down draw from storage this pass week

EIA reports big drop in natural-gas supplies ( NGJ13 ) by Myra P. Saefong

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Natural-gas futures gained more ground Thursday, after the Energy Information Administration reported a drop in U.S. inventories that was bigger than expected. Supplies fell 145 billion cubic feet for the week ended March 8, the EIA said. Analysts polled by Platts forecast a decline between 133 billion cubic feet and 137 billion. Total stocks now stand at 1.938 trillion cubic feet, down 440 billion cubic feet from the year-ago level and 198 billion cubic feet above the five-year average, the government said. April natural gas (ngj13) was at $3.77 per million British thermal units, up 9 cents, or 2.5%. It was trading at $3.75 shortly before the data.

Fill your tank with natural gas and save some green

With gasoline prices remaining high, more Americans are driving alternative fuel vehicles, including natural gas vehicles (NVG)s. In fact, about 150,000 drivers in the U.S. pay 30 to 50 percent less per gas gallon equivalent (GGE) to run their cars on natural gas. Here are some more reasons to like NGVs:

  • They’re good for health and the environment – emitting fewer pollutants and lower levels of greenhouse gases and other emissions like CO2 (25%), N2O (50%), and CO (95%);
  • NGVs increase energy independence and security since 98 percent of natural gas used in the U.S. comes from North America, compared to the 62 percent of oil that we import;
  • By one estimate, growing demand for NGVs could create 25,000 American jobs by 2035;
  • NGVs meet the same safety standards as gasoline with similar fuel economy and performance.

While most NGVs in the U.S. today belong to commercial fleets, home owners can install a home fueling station for around $5,000 to fill up at home for about $1.25 per GGE. To top it off, federal and state grants and tax incentives are available to help offset the costs of NGVs and fueling stations. There are over one thousand natural gas fueling stations in America, and more are being built every day.

I saw a 2500 HD with CNG label on it at Newts on Wednesday.  I'm not a GMC fan but could definately learn  to like them if CNG is a feature.

Maybe just maybe Gov. and Market will Listen and Learn what T. Boone Picken has been saying. :)  WPRT ( Westport ) builds these engines for trucks and cars.

I stopped at a traffic signal yesterday behind a NGV Honda Civic.  It did not have a company name or logo.

we may have 1-2 more weeks of draw down before injection season starts. First time since 2011 storage below 2 Tcf. If 1-2 more draw down may see $4 gas for little time before slow drop into season low of Sept 2013
