I'm going to be sick......

They will more than likely regret signing up...... can't figure why people would subject themselves to it....js

Bayou Billionaires????   The check on the trailer program was for only $116,000.  It won't take too long for those types of checks to be gone when paying for 4 kids and 8 grand kids.  They should've put the guy from Desoto that owns over 19,000 acres on that show.

I agree with Parkdota........... and if they're not careful they might end up owing Uncle Sam more than they think!!!

he wouldn't do it ;)

Parkdota,

Maybe you hit the nail on the head....  $116k, especially after taxes, won't go that far with 4 kids and 8 grandkids feeding at the trough.  Do you think it is possible the family received compensation for doing this show?

Henry, I would imagine they'd receive some form of compensation from the show.  A few folks have posted on here that they were contacted so maybe they know what might be gained per show.

On another note, I've seen people start out washing dishes to then become millionaires and I've seen millionaires end up washing dishes.  If folks blessed enough to have gains from the shale boom don't invest but simply spend, spend, spend....then it is a shame.  There is a program on cable called "The Lottery Changed My Life", or something to that affect, that is a great example of what many shale income recipients are facing.  On the show many lotto winners go broke.  I'd love to see some data and or hear stories about both the good and bad of the shale boom.

Let's hope they put enough of their bonus money aside to last them for the rest of their life.

Now Linda, you know that would not make an acceptable premise for a reality  television show.   LOL!

You are so right about that Skip.........

Oh great, they always find the biggest backwoods "folk" to put on these shows. This does not put this region in a good light, of course, everyone thinks we're already hillbillies anyway.

The redneck on a jet ski in the farm pond speaks for itself.

LOL...or LAWL!

:)

it's like the jeff foxworthy joke where they always go find the toothless old woman wearing slippers and curlers to interview after the tornado blows through a trailer park.

but honestly i don't think it was so much who they could "find" as who they could talk into being on the show....   old money doesn't do stuff like that, the nouveau riche are far more likely to participate.  might sound snooty or whatever, but it's the truth.

i wish the show luck, and hope they found a few people with a bit of class, or at least some honest dignity, to represent this part of the state.
