You can bet kerry has not forgot the gun boat incident boone sponsored that probably cost him the presidency. Lindsey can't get along with fellow republicans....don't think either will turn a lot of head's...going to be a lot of serious politics on the energy bill.
Lindsey's problem is that he sides with non-conservatives too much. Kind of a finger in the wind guy! More like Arlan Spectacle!

These guys need to watch out for a compromise. Dem's define compromise as "you agree with me on my parts and we will trash your parts. You then agree to do it our way. Compromise." A bad bill is worse than no bill. Climate change occurs gradually so there isn't a huge rush to get something done.
Sure he did...

In addition, we are committed to seeking compromise on additional onshore and offshore oil and gas exploration — work that was started by a bipartisan group in the Senate last Congress. Any exploration must be conducted in an environmentally sensitive manner and protect the rights and interests of our coastal states.

Failure to act comes with another cost. If Congress does not pass legislation dealing with climate change, the administration will use the Environmental Protection Agency to impose new regulations. Imposed regulations are likely to be tougher and they certainly will not include the job protections and investment incentives we are proposing.

The OCS and the threat of more and harsher EPA regulations are what he intends to bargain with to save "Clean Coal".
