Skip, thanks for posting, I missed Shreveport Times yesterday, still having fun in Baton Rouge celebrating Tigers stomping of Florida!! What is your thoughts on the Sawgrass Storage LLC horizontal in Section 21 T19N - R 1W, Lincoln Parish?

looks like its a directional well not a horizontal, I'll pull the permit as soon as it gets scanned to see for sure.

Yeah, the permit will help make sense of what is a curious well.  First, it is a GSA or gas storage well.  Not unusual for this area.  And the permitted horizon is the Vaughn Sand, also not unusual.  I'm not familiar with the SDV abbreviation.  I haven't look at all the other GSA wells in this general area but those that I saw with a quick look appeared to be vertical wells.  I'm not knowledgeable when it comes to storage wells so I don't know if a horizontal or directional well serves any purpose as far as storage.  This is Sawgrass Storage LLC's first LA. well at least under that name.  They appear to be a small independent out of IL.

Normally a directional well is drilled when surface conditions dictate the need. Sometimes you have a unwilling surface owner, hard to drill surface (WMA's, State parks, etc.), lakes or rivers.

Skip and Baron, I just called Sawgrass Storage LLc and they said this well is for gas storage. Riddle solved.

Thanks, treeman.  We knew it was a storage well as I stated above.  It was just the first that I had seen with a permitted TVD and MD. I suspect The Baron is correct regarding the surface conditions requiring a directional wellbore.
