I just heard from some relatives back there that they have found a large oil field under the shale about 3000 ft deeper than a horizontal well drills. Heard there is a big buzz about it, can anyone confirm said rumors?

Its quiet...very quiet...

Jay,

Where is Eagle Ford statigraphically? Below or above HS?

Where in North Louisiana is it located?
Help me, I've only got eyes for the HS. I don't remember from the charts if this is shallow or deeper?
Jay,

The rumor seems to have gotten stronger of late. Where do you think it comes from?

Could it just be from the CV since it produces oil as well as gas and people are assuming that the CV is a blanket like the HS?
Or do you think that a different shallow formation will be productive for oil?
bad rumour
Thanks.
Okay, for those of us from "the bait goes of the fish hook, not in your mouth" mindset... I take it the deeper the play, the more weight over it equates to more compression of the strata, thus resulting in higher pressure which in turn produces higher temperatures at the various depths? And due to the depth of the Haynesville, the oil(s) turn to gas due to the temperature? Naive, I know, but being from my neck of the woods, alot of this is just strange languages and voodoo magic. Please elaborate a little more if you would exactly what your discussion eludes to, if you would be so kind.
Yeah but what if like there was some super oil like never found before man that like could be down there like undiscovered and stuff man?

Just kidding Jay. But there does seem to be more talk of this of late. Glad you cleared it up. 307 degrees! Ouch!
Yeah, thats right Gray, maybe it has Krypton in it, or something else out of a funny book.
Electro,
As you stated the well is in California. I like to depend on good, solid info from LOCAL geologists and engineers.
If you are in the business, you like good solid facts.
I hope you guys are right, but I am not putting any of my money into a pipe dream.
By the way, have any production figures from this well? They would have to be pretty substantial to justify drilling at this depth.
