I was at a lunchen today with a speech given by a VP from Petrohawk. It was an infomative talk about the HA. He did say that the Hawk and CHK are partnering up on some wells, and are trying to work together instead of creating competion in the leasing game.

I know how booms work and acknowledge it happens, but Aubrey has been
tossing crazy offers out for years over here in the Barnett and many other plays in the USA and many following have been
sucked in and out. But the numbers will not work at 5 dollar gas and the
chickens have come home to roost, the music has stopped. The squares on this blog know very
little about the oil and gas business and everyone wants to blam someone
if anything does not go their way, and want big brother or a lawyer to bail them
out of a bad business decision. There is plenty of acreage to drill in shale plays all over the Country and no company needs anyones acreage that bad. Take what you
can get and hope they ever drill on all your little sections so you can quit
you job and go to the boats everyday. Chesapeake has shown how to leverage
you assets into a line of dominos waiting for the collapse to begin so don't
give then any credibilty. They have not been around that long in case you didn't know.
Surely they deserve some credit. The leasing of nat gas acreage figures to drop off for a while as the financial mess works its way through the economy, but should then pick up when the economy resumes and nat gas prices rise. Where are all the other shales and how big are they compared to the Haynesvile? Haven't heard of any more massive shale finds since the Haynesville. Other shales, yes but not as enormous. Only time will tell for sure.
I'm not anxious to give it away so some middle men can flip the profits out of it for themselves.
I mean after the Marcellus, the Fayettville, the Barnett and the Haynesville Shales were discovered. Have there been reports of additional gigantic shale finds after those?
Wasn't there a report of a recent shale discovery in Lasalle County Texas?
Petrohawk has a large discoverey in south Texas, Eagle Ford.
There is also a oil shale in the Dakotaa being developed. The Bakken (not sure I spelled it correctly) is supposed to be a massive oil reserve, but there is no pipeline capacity to get the oil to market. Sound Familer
There are probably several other shale discoveries or plays working their way to that point. However, that information is "tight" and is not being discussed publically. Its a big secret within the companies doing the work. Why? So that these companies can acquire a significant position in the land via leasing at a very very low cost...think a few hundred dollars an acre. That's how it started in the HS and that's how its always been in the business. You won't know anything about these new plays until someone gets their hands on 50-100,000 acres at $200/acre. That's what happened in the Woodford in OK and the Fayetteville in Arkansas.
Atolea Shale, Huron Shale, Conasauga Shale. Some of the latest. Also, I believe that the Eagleford Shale may be the same as the Maverick Shale which was announced by a company other than HK two months earlier. At least it appears to be located in the same general area of SW TX.
This will be espessially tru now that the majors have learned lessons from the HA land rush.
Goshdarn,
Maybe because they want us bumpkins to give our land to them at a low sign on bonus so they can make even more of a profit when the market goes back up, or even flip the land. YOU THINK?????
Oh, I get it now. They try to make money off the gas and are "business savvy." We try to make money off the same gas and are "greedy." Guess we should be thankful for the strips of bread they toss at us...!

I don't think so...

People in this play were very lucky to even have the chance to lease for these
cazy prices just like the Barnett play over here in the Metroplex. If you get a well
drilled on your land you will make more money than most on this site would
have ever made just by luck so stop wasting all your time dicussing the obvious
.What a bunch of morons would even think such an ignorant thought.

Hello Walter, Welcome to the club. You will fit right in with the rest of us morons for sure. You even sound like you could qualify for House Speaker if you want the job.
True ignorance happens when you still fall for the same magic trick after they show you how they did the trick. You can moan and groan all you want but people certainly arent going to change their minds after the fact because some "knowledgable" moron from the metroplex tells us we are idiots and wasteing our time. Unless of course you do become our speaker of the house..........NAH!!!!!!
