Section 10 leases

I am a owner in Section 10 of South Caddo. The primary lease agreement was up 12/19/11., with the usual 2 years secondary. which expires 12/19/2013! I have not received a check since early summer. What is going on? I may not resign with Chesapeake since they do not communicate!!!

The option to extend is moot as there is established production.  In other words Chesapeake can maintain their lease on your minerals as long as the well is producing. They don't need to exercise the option and you have no say in the matter. The well has depleted to the point that if you have a small royalty interest you could be below the minimum monthly payment threshold.  If you can't get an answer from CHK customer service you may wish to contact GHS member, Katie McCullin.  Katie works for CHK and can often help GHS members get to the right person to answer their questions.

if your mineral interest is small and below monthly payments threshold as Skip stated above they should then make payments on annual bases at end of calendar year; therefore you should receive a annual payment in January at some date each year. That what happens in Texas. I do not know if La. is different

FYI.... I believe the amount is $100.  If your monthly check is below that amount, it will be held, until you accumulate enough production to exceed it.  At that point, you will receive a check for the full amount you are owed.  If your royalty is so small as to not exceed $100 over an extended period, you will still receive one check per year for whatever you are owed.  With CHK, that check comes each December.
