"Why the bullish call on natural gas?

It is without question that natural gas is the future, dominant player in a cleaner fuel economy in this country. We will always be dependent on oil, but in the decade ahead we will see usage of natural gas increase on many levels. I believe Exxon (XOM) sees the future clearly and knows that at some point we will see shortages of oil and is going to invest more in natural gas. Compared to oil, natural gas production is dirt cheap."

Then, why haven't they started leasing again????  What's the hold up?   Are they waiting to see what the economy is going to do?

Teacher, remember the old saying "Good things come to those who wait".  YOU need a good lease--not a depression one.  When things start changing in this business, it can happen fast.  Things surely will get better as if it gets much lower, we will be totally giving gas away and I am hoping they will shut in wells before we just give it away. I have been in this for years and one has to be patient.  It is a patience and waiting game--in some ways like school.  There are many "ups and downs"!

Yep, I agree.  And yes, I would love to have a good lease and better yet, I would love to be leased and have a really, really, really good well come into production that I am a part of.  Unfortunately, I've had several ups and downs since 2007 and lots and lots of promises that never came about....I'm just a very impatient person by nature.

I guess God is teaching me and I am learning  patience through all this.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for the encouragment Marg.  I needed to hear that and it's always good for the heart to read encouraging words.

I am not anxious for a lease at all in this economy.  The offers just are not very good now,, (at least the ones I've been offered) with gas prices as low as they are.

I am hopeful that we will get a new administration in a few years with sound policies that WILL get our economy turned around and help the oil/gas industry thrive.

Thank God for the last election last November!  Is that too political for the front page?

Exxon arrives, and places an arm about the shoulders of a lessee whose block of leases is about to run out, and says "Would you like for us, with our funds, to help you out?" (We are the government, and we are here to help you.)   Sound familiar?
