Where's Katie McCullin??  Maybe she can get us an answer to this question.

Here's a zip code map of 71106. It encompasses mostly the Cedar Grove field.

Go, surely you are not suggesting that The Times can not reproduce an accurate zip code map??!!  LOL!
Where is the "Texas" one like this???

Here's my take on part of the confusion.  And yes, I must have way too much time on my hands to do this...

The zip code map, as shown in the Times, has been drawn very loosely.  Obviously Red River Parish cannot be a single zip code as the map shows.  And zip code 71106 does not run down the northeastern edge of DeSoto Parish, according to my zip-code lookup map.  The Times, or whoever made this map, needs to go back to the drawing board and strive for a bit more accuracy.

That map is fairly accurate for 71019 as far as I can tell.

Thanks for verifying that, essay.  I've been trying to find an accurate map at USPS with no success.

Way too much focus on the accuracy of the map, wouldn't you say?  It's indicated that the source of the map is Chesapeake, published by The Times.  I'll give them 5 bonus points/stars for coloring inside the lines.

Anyhooooo, for the sake of discussion, pretend the information is in chart form rather than plotted on a map of questionable accuracy.

Yes, Chesapeake seems to have paid hefty amounts of royalties in the 71106 area.  So?  Could be a number of reasons, including how much ng was sold from that area and at what price.  Could have been during the heyday, before the flatline.

Again, I think it's more interesting from the standpoint of the overall picture.  That's my usual first take on things, but I understand if others see the information in a different light.
