deltic stock is going nuts i guess because they have such a huge
mineral interest in the brown dense area and the leasing companies
are still going full bore so i would conclude that the well is a smoker.
anyone else have any insight?

Grain size can be estimated by trying to force them through your two front teeth, but first one would need to get their teeth calibrated to API Standards... haha. Really experienced geologist know how small grains have to be to fit between their teeth, allowing them to quickly identify between clays, silts, and sands - it just depends on the size of the gap...
A good mud engineer can taste the mud and within an acceptable margin of error, tell you what the chlorides content is...
In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of) nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
