section 8, township 16N, range 13W

You can search by LUW code.  Pull up your well on SONRIS and obtain the LUW code (it will be the third column from the right).  

Then go to 'Wells by LUW' under well information. Be sure to choose '2 - Unit' in the drop down menu.

This search should generate a report with all activity within the specified unit.

I only see the one HA well being in Section 8, Serial # 241358 (LUW 616705)

Correct, Ellis.  This is a Petrohawk well with surface location in Section 18, Wendell.

How do you tell that the bottom of the well goes into your section?

The name of the well will have the producing section number as part of the name.  And on SONRIS Lite under Well HIstory, the first entry is the surface location and the bottom hole location.  Note the example below.  The surface location is S3 - 15N - 14W but the well name is Jenkins 34-16-14H indicating that it is producing from S34 - 16N - 14W.  Keep in mind that Haynesville Shale wells are predominately drilled on a N/S axis and are often drilled from an adjoining section.  Therefore you must look not only at the section of interest but also the ones immediately above and below. 

In the example well the first entry in the Well History is 125' FNL & 1897' FEL OF SEC 3. PBHL: 150' FNL & 1897' FEL OF SEC 34-T16N-R14W.  The first description is the surface location: 125' FNL (From North Line) and 1897' FEL (From East Line) of Section 3.  The next description is of the bottom hole location:  PBHL (Planned Bottom Hole Location) 150' From North Line and 1897' From East Line of Section 34 -16N -14W. This well is drilling north from S3-15N-14W into Section 34-16N-14W. The Office of Conservation organizes wells in the database by surface location as this has been the norm since the state started keeping records.  In the new reality of horizontal drilling it is quite common to find a surface location in one section and the bottom hole in another.

Keep in mind that most Haynesville operators don't use the full section-township-range in their well names as in the Chesapeake example.  Most operators use only the section number for the bottom hole.  In the example well a more common name would be simply, Jenkins 34H #1

Tip for searching SONRIS Lite for Wells By Section - Township - Range:  Leave the Section box blank and use only the Township and Range boxes.  This will pull up all the wells in a township by section.  With a township grid to help with the serpentine sequence of sections you can scroll through all the sections and easily check the sections north and south of your target section.  For example is your section is16 then you need to examine wells in 9 and 21 to see if any have names with 16 in the name.

This is the info for Alexander 25-16-16, sn 238427 and I am in 26-16-16

Then S/N 238427 is not your well.  In fact there are no wells listed for your section.  Very curious considering its excellent location.

We have a large landowner that was working on a lease with Chesapeake, actuallly the landowner had asked for a few more days to sign, said they were completing trust arrangements when the bottom fell out and Cheseapeake pulled out.  I had been told they had been in discussions for a year.
