I need a working definition of a "Unit Well".  Received a letter from Fite indicating that I have no interest in a well because it is a "unit/well".  My property is located about 400 feet from the well.  I cannot believe that I'm not getting any royalty.

A surveyor registered with the  State of Louisiana drew up the map for Fite.  Can this be trusted?

What is the field name and the unit name?  I'll post a plat of the unit.  Any well drilled to the formation covered by the unit and within the boundary of the unit as approved by the state is a unit well.  In practice the first well drilled to a unitized formation is the unit well and any additional wells are termed alternate unit wells.  Both the unit well and any alternate unit wells pay royalty to all the leased interests within the unit boundary irregardless of the surface location of the well(s) within the unit.

Well number 214995 Fincher #2.  NAC RA SUD

NAC RA SUD is an 80 acre unit located in the East Half of the Northeast Quarter of Section 13 - 11N - 11W.  Here is a link to the unit order creating the unit which includes a plat on page 4..
