GG,

I bet that there are some on this site that may be able to help you. If you could provide more information it would probably give you better results.

Did you lease through a neighborhood association?
Was the broker hired by the neighborhood association or were you assigned to the broker by the o/g company?

What area and parish are you located? Southern Caddo? Northern DeSoto?

Did you sign an "Oil and Gas Mineral Lease" or an "Agreement to Lease"?

If you signed an actual OGML, has it been recorded at the courthouse?

Was the name on the OGML the name of the broker or Chesapeake?

Were you provided with a draft that listed Chesapeake or the broker?

This is the phone number for the Chesapeake Corporate Office in Oklahoma (405) 848-8000, ask for David Luke, that is who assisted me when I was having trouble. He always seems to be in a hurry so you may have better results if you are brief and to the point instead of giving a long, drawn-out story. Explain that you signed a lease with Chesapeake and would like to know if the draft would be paid. Provide your name, address, phone number and the book and page if your lease has been recorded. He may be able to provide you with some answers. I don't know if it will do any good to call but it certainly can't hurt. He may be able to reassure you or give you cause for concern.

I hope that you will be paid and that you will have positive results. From my own experience, I know that the money can mean a heck of a lot, especially during the Holidays. The "not knowing" is what would bother me the most.
congradulation i hope the best for you what parish are you in
the broker was assigned by chesapeake. broker told us that they were hired by them to do these leases. i am in desoto parish. we signed an oil and gas mineral lease. as of last monday it has not been recoreded. the name on the lease was the brokers. draft had the name of the broker on it. they said that chesapeake paid them first and then they paid us.
groovy grove,

For what its worth, I just wanted to let you know that you have a lot of people praying for you.

Chesapeake has tarnished their reputation with a bunch of us that had respect for their company.

I think this will turn out for you in the long run, you just have to keep fighting. I know that it is not right. You shouldn't have to fight for something that was mutually agreed upon.

Keep us informed about your situation.

GOOD LUCK
parker, did you have a lease that was not paid? or draft should i say???????????
groovy grove,

Neither. Actually, I have been satisfied with all of my dealings with Chesapeake.

I just hate what is going on with everyone else at this time.
Im glad you stopped yelling, thanks it is easier to read. How much property did you lease? How much was the signing bonus per acre? Chk may pay the deal, just because they have backed out on some doesn't mean they will back out on you. Read the thread about CHK and their money problems. They may ask if you would be willing to take some of their stock instead of all the money. You may be in for a bumpy ride with their stock for the short term but I think that if you held the stock for the longer hall you would come out smelling like a rose with more money in your pocket than before.
It is a shame that a landowner would have to worry if a signed Lease would be paid according to its terms. We will keep our hopes up for you!

BTW, is your broker local or from Lafayette?
Insomniacnla,

I believe in an earlier post, he said it was J W Porter.
Parker, I couldn't find the JW Porter post anymore, it must have been deleted. If I remember correctly someone sat on a draft for 30 days?
it was with jw porter and associates
signing bonus was for 15k, have 3 acres
