I have land in Vivian and had it up for sale, but within a week I had 4 buyers interested and one was a land company. I called a friend that told me a well was drilled in Ira and another was supposed to be drilled in Hooston. Needless to say I stopped the sale immediately. I was just wondering if anything was about to happen? The area is Township 22 North Range 16 West.

Jack, do you mean "Ida" or "Mira"?  I am unaware of any well of interest in either place.  The Hosston well is likely Will Drill's recently permitted Cotton Valley horizon.  Without a section number or better description of where "in Vivian" it's hard to be more specific.  Something is stirring in the area west of Vivian near the stateline.  Can you post the name of the land company?
Why don't you just sell the land and reserve the minerals? Of course there is drilling going on in Hosston, they permit and complete wells there every month. The entire area ( Pine Island, Hosston, Rodessa, etc.) is one of the most famous fields in American history.

@ checkmating....I was concerned about leasing is why I didn't sell. I know almost nothing concerning the where, when, or if they are ever going to make it up to Vivian (meaning the Haynesville shale drilling or anything). I know Oil City didnt' get it's name for no reason, but I thought all that was mostly in the past, excluding a well here and there at times.

@Skip....I did mean Ida...saw that after I posted and figured if anyone read it and knew the area they would know what I meant. The section I am not sure of but longitude is 93 degrees, 59', 39" and latitude is 32 degrees, 52', 29". Not sure if this helps.  The land company I am not sure of either...my realitor was dealing with him but I have have called him and he is checking.

Jack, any current development interest in the Vivian area is not related to the Haynesville Shale.  There are however a couple of other possibilities.  It would be helpful to know the location.  Can you describe, by use of roads or other landmarks, the location of your property?
North from Shreveport on Hwy 1, through Oil City and turn left at red brick 1st Baptist church which is Hwy 170, Tennessee Ave...then at the Y go right on Old Atlanta Rd....about 1 1/2 mile is Crosscreek P/D take a left there and it is 1 1/2 miles back in the woods.

Jack, based on your location, I suggest that you hold on to your minerals and accept no lease offers at this time without first performing some due diligence.  As Checkmateking rightly points out, you can sell your surface and reserve the minerals for a minimum of ten years.  That is if you get a willing buyer that is interested in the surface without the minerals.

Jack, I strongly suggest that you move this discussion to the North Caddo Parish Group Page.

I am not sure how to move this thread except to copy and paste the original question there. I have signed up to the North Caddo group. The land company was Land Endeavors and you can find them on the internet at landendeavors.com
i went ahead and reposted this.
