I have been researching my dads mineral rights and have noticed one paticular well in Sec. 33, T16,R16 it is the only well producing in that section that i can find. The well location plat (#206328)on file with Sonris shows a 640 acre unit but is comprised of the west 3/4 of section 33 and the east 1/4 of section 32 thus this well unit is divided between two sections. Also the well in Sec. 34 (#239761) shows a 640 acre unit comprising of all of Sec. 34. Therefor leaving the east 1/4 of Sec. 33 out of a well unit almost like a deserted island. Am i correct on this my dads property in NOT in any producing well unit? I have plotted all the wells within two miles of his property and printed all the plats. He was told that his mineral rights were sold prior to purchasing his property and i cant find any producing well that he is part of a unit of.
I have tried going through past threads to find a disscusion on this but have been unsuccesful.
Any clairification would help.
Thanks
Robert

Thanks Skip that confirmed my findings and i will use those keywords for searching. His mineral rights were severed in a prior transaction before his property purchase. I have also researched all activity within two miles of his property and printed all the wells that have been attempted and P&A or producing to come up with a dated of last activity but havent weeded through them all yet but it looks good for him in his section.
Thanks for replying and being such a asset to this forum.
If i may be of any asistance in the future to anyone on this site please dont hesitate to contact me.
I work for a local Civil Engineering firm and have access to many parish maps, unlimited usgs maps and some subdivision plats.

The plat for the well bearing serial number 206328 that Rob refers to is not the unit plat for CV D RA SUUU. It is only the well plat. The well was drilled before the unit was established. The unit was created under Order #207-B-5 for the Greenwood-Waskom Field and according to the Order the unit consists of all of Sec. 33 only. Unfortunately this does not help Rob in recovering his dad's mineral rights through prescription. This well has been producing steadily since July of 1987.

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
