Mr. Maloy---the best way to locate this 162 acre tract is to have your relative who leased the minerals (Grantor) talk very nicely to the landman that they leased with and ask if they would share a copy of their run sheet map and plat with you.

You might be able to search the Appraisal District computer for a 162 acre tract in J. A. Chireno.  You'd then take those search results to the index cards and look back through the documents referenced on each tract that size to find the one that matches that Volume and Page in the description you gave.  Who knows, you might get lucky and there would only be one tract described as 162 acres in that survey.

Mr. Maloy, I don't want to discourage you but J. A. Chireno Survey is over 40,000 acres.  It would be nearly impossible to find that tract just with the description you gave unless someone familiar with that tract happens to see what you posted and realizes that they know where the land its located.  If you have access to the Nacogdoches County Clerk's Office they have a wonderful record system.  You'd probably have to run the title forward to the present owner and then look them up at the Appraisal District Office to find the location on the ground.

Petrohawk has a JV with EOG, who is drilling the Haynesville.

Below is the legal description of the land that my relatives have leased to Petrohawk.  Can anyone give me directions that I can follow on a map to look at this land?

 

162 acres, more or less, out of the Jose Antonio Chireno Survey, A-17, Nacogdoches County, Texas being the same land described as "Block No. 2"in that certain Deed dated December 15, 1906, from Geo. W. Eason, Trustee of the Estate of A. Wettermark & Son, in Bankruptcy to The Angelina County Lumber Company, recorded in Volume 64, Page 495, Deed Records, Nacogdoches County, Texas.

Woden, The map is updated any time an API # is assigned to a new permit.  That happens when the mapping dept. finishes their review of the permit application. 

Basically, if you find a new permit pending in a W-1 search, it will be spotted on the map when the API number is posted to the W-1 page, along with the Texas icon.  Sometimes, if you are watching a permit closely, the API # will appear first but the location won't be on the map until the Texas icon is there, also.  Usually, though, there is not much time separating the two events.

If you are talking about historical well locations, I don't know what they have planned.

Woden-- suggest you ask that question on ijjree1 RRC of Texas Help Center group site but I think the map is a on going live daily data added as it is obtained
